"The car was actually shaped about my Mom - lying down - head first. Very brave my Mom, she was the first to ride it and very nearly crashed. Avon had sponsored me and my dad to race it at the Signal hill races in California. We went on TV with it (Runaraound with Stan Boardman) and gave Avon a big chuck up only for them to pull the plug a week before going out to the States to race it.
Steering was by a small control column at the front. It was really tricky to control and looking back just as well we didn't go to Signal Hill because I think it would have been "Operation Certain Death"!
