Last October I saw a Bultaco Alpina in a museum attached to Don Laughlin’s casino on the Colorado River. I fell in love with it straight away and thought this is a piece of me, I need two wheels back in my life. Forward five months later and this is my new bike. My Bultaco 71 Sherpa 250 is the bike that doesn't run. I've had it since March and I bought it after meeting the guy who was super cool and he had it as an ornament for seven years on the garage sidewall. I've got it home and kicked it and kicked it but it won't start. The vendor gave me a partial refund. I took it to some cool guys - a father and son in the local village bike shop. They looked at it and got a new vacuum tube sleeve for the Amal carb then it started but it had a knocking so it's gone off for a barrel and piston job. The parts are at a place that does two-stroke engines in Wolverhampton. They're a bit slow and they were very busy and they fooked up the order once because the Piston wasn't ready when the barrel was polished. I've got a new helmet and I've got some secondhand boots for trial riding stuff but I aint wearing those tight fitting britches. I’ve got a bunch of stuff to make the bike look even better including Custom rider number holder and a new reg plate sticker and new tank stickers, this is all at home in the cupboard. So here I am three months later still waiting. It looks good static on its paddock stand doesn't it?
