Never Forget

Remembrance Sunday in the UK.
These pics I took in Normandy in August.
Ultimate sacrifices were made in 1944.

Brothers from Different Mothers

Mark and Barry Abrook.
Best friends since 1980.
Mark was best man at my wedding.
We skated all over together.
Mark and Barry went pro for the almighty Zorlac.
Wild times.
Mark now lives in Texas, Barry in the Southsea bubble.
We only seem to meet for funerals these days.
Miss you guys.

40th Birthday jam

I am sure I was the first to run an old skool skate reunion with my 40th bithday in 2002.
The skatepark in Bristol has a bar.
Heads came out of the woodwork as far away as Belgium.
It was rad.
It kick started all the vert events we do ourselves now.

shake-it shake it

Cocktail shaker exhausts mounted so upright they will fill up with water in a rainstorm!
If you had a bike this good you would bring in the living room in front of the fire too!

Pinstriper

Got myself a pinstriping starter kit and DVD.
What else can you do when you have a busted leg?
Gonna see if I can pull some lines.

Dog Bone

Dog bone risers scare me.
What if something comes loose.....
I like the front brake lever and fluid chamber.
compact and cool.

Rob Mertz

Remembering what a pleasure it was to meet a real cool skateboarder character back in the day.
I interviewed Rob for Skateboard! UK magazine.
He told me about East coast straight edge hardcore and how he was dead against drugs and booze and even pain killers.
Rob had X's on the back of his hand.
I never knew there were skateboarders who didnt do drugs??!!
The shark on his board graphic has an X on its Fin....Cool!
He told me about Pennsylvania pride , the Keystone state, the Heinz beanz part of his board graphics.
We met a few times and hung out at Munster and Southsea and Brighton.
Rob now runs the Plan- B operation and Syndrome distribution.
He still skates better than me and you!

Please make it STOP!

Laying here with a busted leg I find myself strangely drawn to re-runs of American Chopper.
Those guys have lost their edge years ago with all the Flowjet corporate crap they turn out.
The Pez Bike, The Crane bike, The BBQ trike.
PLEEEZE
HEELLLP!

Southsea 89

SHUT UP AND SKATE contest 1989.
The best comp for atmosphere and rawness and
a total great day of skateboarding ever in the UK.
Craig Johnson ruled with full on "skin of your teeth" hardcore Texan ramp shaking.
You had to be there to witness this first hand!!

I like

See my bike in 6 months time.
stylin cues....

Wots the damage mate?

Docs today.
They took out staples and I see x-rays of the break and the fix.
Could be as long as 6 months probably 3-4 months if I work at it.

Follow Trawler!

Follow Trawler, Cantona tells it like it is!

Sponsored

Reflecting today on the mess i'm in.
Every young lads dream!
In early 1986 my call was answered.
One board, cosmetic defect, sent surface mail. Big deal huh!
This was the start of a cool relationship,
a board per month for nearly five years.
Jeremy Fox went on through Deathbox skateboards and now
Flip- the biggest skateboard company on earth with the best riders.
Cool Brand-x headed paper,
I have laminated this- how sad!

Duane Peters interviews

Looking forward to 5 days of Duane interviews at www.thrashermagazine.com

Skating . Punkrock. Bikes. hell.

this couldn't have come at a better time for me.

Sean Goff

One of my best friends and motivators to keep skateboarding.
Legend and UK champ across the mid 80'S.
So many pro models throughout the years
At 43 Sean keeps going strong.
On a diet of Crisps, bread and Pa'te because he is too tight to buy a decent meal! Sean will skate naked at the drop of a hat.
Once in front of 2500 spectators at Donington monsters of rock!

All photos from an interview I did sidewalk mag anniversary issue.
